The course will provide an overview on carbon/alloy steels, heat-treatment processes and metallurgy. With this new gained knowledge, students will forge their own hammer, centre punch, chisel and a pair of tongs using alloy steels. The forging processes will include striking, punching and drifting, drawing out of tool steel while learning about the layout and ergonomics of anvil navigation.
