Following weekend intensives are on offer:

  • Saturdays from 8:00am-5:30pm & Sunday from 8:00am-4:30pm – will be available again in 2019

This weekend course is suitable for all former students of Waterside who have completed Module 2 and runs over a 2-day period. The aim of this course is to explore the vocabulary of joinery design and its tooling to produce professional looking pieces. Through developing the artistic understanding of the union of two elements and creating the necessary tooling for shaping the material at hand, students will be able to walk away from a place of ‘Tradition’ to a place of contemporary technique. During the workshop students will learn and discuss traditional and hand forged joinery and will practice following joins: mortise and tenon, wedges, collaring, pipe rivets and a variety of hot riveting techniques and designs. Tasmanian based Pete Mattila, will be teaching with the assistance of the familiar Waterside crew.
