Following workshops are on offer:
- Friday April 29th, 10:30am-2:30pm – spots available
This workshop is intended only for individuals who identify as women and who have little to no experience working with steel and fire. Participants will learn that blacksmithing isn’t about brute strength but it requires finesse and patience to accurately shape steel. The 1-day workshop will provide an overview of the practice: primary tools, safety precautions, creative possibilities and most importantly a hands-on practical experience in moving metal. Students will focus on the fundamental techniques involved in traditional blacksmithing: tapering, twisting, scrolling and learn how to manage a coke fired forge.
Upon completion, participants will take home one or two forged pieces (depending on interest and time).
Minimum age for students is 18.
price: $160 / $144 (student under 24)
