The studio was established in 2011 by Steve Phillips (Estebaan) and delivers a wide range of courses with the help of some of the finest guest teachers from Australia and abroad. Each of the ten forging stations in the studio are fully equipped with a traditional coke fired forge, anvil, hand tools and a legvice. A fly press and power hammer are also available to support the delivery of quality blacksmithing experiences from beginners to advanced.
Lute joined the studio initially in an administrative capacity and is now focusing on jewellery design. Both partners are avid hikers and their love for the natural world instills a sense of urgency to look after ‘our home’ and reducing Waterside’s environmental footprint by becoming carbon neutral.
Waterside is a proud anchor member of the RiverEdge Creative Alliance (RECA).
